Continuing work on conducting final testing for the Directory Tool:

  • Rename www/directory folder to www/directorya folder (did this, verified that I could not get to directory from nornal URL)
  • Move the release version of the Directory Tool out of my Tools folder (moved it to Radio Userland/DirectoryTest folder)
  • Delete icons from gems directory (folder.gif, remote.gif, xmlIcon21.gif) (moved it to Radio Userland/DirectoryTest folder)
  • Delete directories folder within gems folder (moved it to Radio Userland/DirectoryTest folder)
  • Shut down Radio UserLand, then start up again to verify that the Directory Tool does not show up in my Tools list (did this, had problems posting updates to this entry after moving the tool, had to do a shutdown of Radio UserLand before I could post again, need to remember this in the future)
  • Move release version of Directory Tool to Tools folder (did this, waited a few minutes, did not see DirectoryTool appear in tool list, quit Radio UserLand and restarted, saw Directory Tool in list. Went to the Desktop Website, selected Tools, then selected Directory Tool from list to get to tool documentation)
  • Perform installation steps as described in the tool documentation (performed steps on installation page, need to add a step telling the user to select "Generate new directory" from tool menu to generate the sample directory, and then tell the user to go to their directory page. Tried to generate a directory from the sample directory, but got an error message: "Can't evaluate the expression because the name "breadcrumbText" hasn't been defined". Confirmed that a mydirs folder had been created containing the file sampledirectory.opml, need to add breadcrumbData array back to DirectoryToolData table. Added that array to tool, did not seem to help - when selecting the "Generate new directory" menu command, still got the same error. I am going to try adding the string "Top" to item 1, even though the DirectoryToolScriptP does this. As I added "Top", I realized that the data type in the table needed to be string instead of wptext. Deleted all the table entries, recreated them as string type, and tried again to generate the sample directory. Got the following error message: "The file Macintosh HD:Applications:Radio UserLand:www:gems:directories:sampledirectory.opml wasn't found." Need to look at copying this file as part of the initialization, perhaps.)
  • Create an initial directory as described in the tool documentation
  • Create a second directory as described in the tool documentation
