i'm excited by the prospect of mass production fuel cell vehicles. here's some links: fuel cell vehicles. gm steers towards fuel cell cars. 12 challenges for fuel cell vehicles. another list of companies involved in fuel cell vehicle development. honda's already introduced three, and currently plans to sell 300 in 2003. maybe they can move that up now. this subject's got my 'popular mechanics' gadget-interest in high gear ...

i signed up for netflix a week and a half ago, just to try out the service. mail's dead slow here in new mexico, but my first three choices came remarkably fast ... giving me great hopes. i sent off the disks after viewing on saturday, so they probably didn't go out until monday ... and still no indication this morning on the netflix site that they've received them. obviously, i'll have to consider a greater-than three disk scenario.

ny times op-ed: who lost the surplus? i don't understand this article. given my link in august (on dangerousmeta!) to a story stating that 2/3 of the shortfall was the result of the tax cut, i guess i'll have to pay to get into the new york times archives and see what source they used, and find out if there's been an update. i'd like to know fact, without cooked numbers.

in reference to my post of last night, maybe i shouldn't be so cynical. maybe the bush administration is planning to redirect the republican's myth that you can spend less money and cure all of society's problems.

for me, the image of representative mica of florida holding up a placard during debate over the house welfare bill, saying "don't feed the alligators", still resonates. [march 23, 1995, chicago tribune]

and mica had the support of the christian coalition, from what i understood at the time.
