Meeting Mr. Rogers:

On Friday afternoon I was at an event, I turned to introduce myself to a gentleman standing next to me. After giving my name, he replied, "I'm Fred Rogers". I felt like I had met a rock star.

Growing up without TV, but not being deprived from it, I always viewed TV a little like a native in a 3rd world country would view, as if it were magic.

When I found myself talking with Mr. Rogers, I was almost star struck. Fortunately the event started before I could blurt out something stupid. As I left the even, I called Robert Scoble, and said something like "Dude, you will never believe who I just met!" After I told him, his response was something like "You are making this up!"

Saturday morning, following a ritual I have gotten into, I headed to the Wellness Center that we have here to do some basic workout maintenance. As I parked my truck, and opened the door, who should be standing there but Mr. Rogers again. An hour later, when we had finished a memorable conversation, I concluded that he is one of the really fine people that I have met. As warm, intelligent, interesting and interested as anyone that I have ever encountered. I haven't look at TV for kids lately, but my instincts tell me that that don't make them like him these days.
