I am having some trouble with a tool that I wrote in Frontier to run in Radio. Getting some interesting to nasty ("attempting to read a free block") errors with it. It's making me wonder, does Radio 8 support hierarchies in right click menus?

Too many toys to play with this weekend. I just set up a DSS/Tivo receiver, after years of watching broadcast TV only. I am now recording a movie just so I can play some more with Radio.

A big light went on this morning as I realized that I need to implement webScheduler as a Radio tool. Put the processing on the client side and then upstream event data to a Manila server to be presented by the webScheduler plugin. This makes separating private and shared data a snap.

I started playing around with gems. Drop in a file into a folder, see it on the website. Very cool. I put up an tool with a long history, it started as a Frontier suite, then moved to a Radio tool, then to a Frontier tool, and now back to Radio. It should only work on a Mac and works better in classic than OS X, but here it is if anyone is interested: dynDesktop tool.

The tool is designed to load a desktop picture from an image on the Internet. Whenever the image changes, the tool downloads the new image and sets the desktop picture to it. This works quite well on the Mac, pre OS X. With OS X, everything works, but I can't figure out how to update the desktop picture without restarting the Finder (and of course, I rarely restart the Finder these days). I couldn't get it to work on Windows, because never I figured out how to tell Windows to update its wallpaper.

I am guessing that most people don't look at their desktops much these days, so the tool has probably outlived it usefulness. Oh well.
