Ok, I am going to give the 49ers the benefit of the doubt. I laid out why think they will fail.
Now, lets think about why they might succeed. Mike Nolan has football credentials, something that the front office lacks. He brought Mike Singletary with him. If Singletary can instill a quarter of his drive into the 49ers defense, their defense becomes a force in football.
A west coast offense combined with a lights out defense is a familiar theme. The 49ers won 5 Super Bowls with it.
Now, we need to see if Coach Nolan can pull this off with the team that Dr. York gives him.
