iPods in Education? I am not sure that I have seen many compelling educational uses for iPods in education (yet), but I think the potential is great. (A couple of projects at Georgia College & State University took place last year). People at Apple Camp were certain that educational uses will emerge as we look at past and future initiatives. We shouldn't have to wait too long; the freshmen at Duke took possession of their own 4th Generation iPods last week! Just off the top of my head - the most obvious uses are with language studies (Dartmouth had ten iPods that they loaned out to their language students). Many more uses are possible with the addition of an input device (like the Belkin microphone). And of course, the potential to repurpose the iTunes music store to distribute content (including spoken word) is great. A quick survey of the iTunes store shows a very limited selection of spoken word offerings- a few short tracks by Allen Ginsberg. 6:32:00 PM | # | | trackback []

Playing with Tinderbox After flirting with Tinderbox for about a year, I have decided to take the plunge as use it as the weblog authoring tool for our new Horizon VCOP weblog. I am particularly impressed with the hyperlinking and visualisation capabilities of Tinderbox. I also like the fact that the data can be reinterpreted and resorted using the advanced scripting capabilities of Tinderbox. I purchased Tinderbox last November, and while I use it regularly, I have not been able to get it to do what I would like it to do. This my account of getting it to perform. 12:10:15 PM | # | | trackback []
