« Instant Outline Buddies: Not Just Personal Outlines »
Aha! After reading Dave's article "Google, directories, and OPML", I had a wild idea. I went to the soapware.org Implementation page, and thought, "Hmmm, what if I try to subscribe to the OPML file behind this page?". So I clicked on the XML button, which brought me to http://services.soaplite.com/toolkits.opml (on Paul Kuchenko's site). In Radio, I went to Radio/Outliner/Subscribe to Outline..., entered the URL, and voila, I have a new entry in my Buddies list. Now, since this outline does participate in weblogs.com pinging, I'm not sure if I will get notified when the Paul updates the file, but if so, this is really cool. (If I don't get notified, it will still be cool, just not really cool. ;-)
« Radio Community Server for Python »
The source code is out!.Right - the private alpha test went OK, so without further ado:
The license used is the MIT license; you can do pretty much what you like with the code as long as you don't pretend that you wrote it yourself. See the LICENSE file for details.
Pretty neat, now there's the possibility of running RCS on a Linux machine (such as my home server, or the file server at work).
Still waiting to see what happens with good client-side Radio tools (e.g., outline editors) that run on Linux. Given a good implementation of the latter, it would also be neat to be able to develop UserTalk code and browse/edit the Radio object database in an external editor. I can imagine that being possible via SOAP, if the editor has a SOAP client and Radio exposes the appropriate interfaces.
