A friend had recommended Richard Cox's The Algebra of Probable Inference long ago, but I hadn't followed up. Browsing the excellent math and stat collection at the Stanford Bookstore yesterday morning, I found a copy. and read it in the flight back home. Ninety-six literate, amusing, argument-packed pages show that the laws of probability are no less necessary than the laws of logic. If I was not allowed another book on probability for the rest of my days, this is the one I would want to keep. 10:44:32 PM ![]() |
