Slashdot (no, I won't grace them with a link) started implementing a "banning" scheme against supposedly abusive RSS readers. They claim that mine is polling for news more often than the allowed 30 minutes. Except that my NetNewsWire polling interval is exactly 30 minutes. In addition, Slashdot's "banning" implementation is obnoxiously unfriendly, locking out the supposed "offender" for 72 hours without any useful warning (this happened overnight). It looks as if they think they are so important that readers will put up with this arrogance and obnoxiousness. They are off my subscriptions list. There are many other news sources out there, if they haven't noticed. 10:50:45 AM
