I asked WFUV if they would be streaming Idiot's Delight again given the new agreement between the RIAA and college radio stations. Unfortunately, WFUV believes believe that the RIAA agreement does not remove the format restrictions imposed by DMCA. WFUV will be creating an archive of live Idiot's Delight segments, which are not subject to the DMCA, but that lacks one of the show's delights, its creative tension between recorded music choices, Vin Scelsa's monologues, live studio performances, and interviews. For example, Vin will play several recorded versions of a song and also ask his guests to cover the song. Since the show's webcast stopped, I haven't bought much new music. I learned there about Bill Frisell, Béla Fleck, Belle and Sebastian, Aimee Mann, Habib Koité, the Lounge Lizards, Ali Farka Toure, and went on to buy many of their recordings. No more.
