"This is not to pretend that there is a single American ideal, still less a single US foreign policy, maintained unbroken since 1776. There are, instead, competing traditions, each able to trace its lineage to the founding of the republic. But what's striking is that George Bush's war on Iraq is at odds with every single one of them." Jonathan Freedland, who has a track record as a hugely pro-American writer in The Guardian, makes clear that the Bush administration is exceptional, in a wholly perjorative sense. [Davos Newbies]
Nicely put.

One View on the Finder.... Siracusa talks about the Finder [MacRumors]
This is a terrific article. Basically, I hate the OSX Finder. I always loved the old Mac Finder; it was for a long time, the premier Mac application (though it failed to keep up to other advances in the Mac OS, at least after System 7 came out, until the time of spring-loaded folders). It seems like nearly every time I want to do something with files in OSX, I get frustrated and angry.
