Shooting at Los Angeles airport. A security official employed by the airline returned fire and the gunman was killed. [BBC News]

The shooter in this attack was stopped by an armed civilian, not a Police officer, National Guardsman, or any other kind of Federal Gestapo agent.

The Armed Pilot: A Cautionary Tale. David Codrea at KeepAndBearArms.com - The Armed Pilot: A Cautionary Tale - a graphic depiction of why pilots (and passengers, though he didn't say that) need to be armed. Now. [kaba] [End the War on Freedom]

I hadn't thought about it until reading this story, but the pilots our government won't allow to carry sidearms on a commercial flight are in many cases the very same pilots who (as Air National Guard fighter pilots) would be ordered to shoot down hijacked airliners.
