Peaceniks, Terrorists, Whatever.

"You can make an easy kind of a link that, if you have a protest group protesting a war where the cause that's being fought against is international terrorism, you might have terrorism at that [protest]," says Mike Van Winkle, a spokesman for California's Anti-Terrorism Information Center. "You can almost argue that a protest against that is a terrorist act."

Never fear, folks: He said "almost." Our freedoms are safe!

[Hit & Run]

I'm not surprised. That's the same sort of thinking (if it can be called that) that labels people opposed to the conquest of Iraq as "pro-Saddam."

Hey, War Supporters. Good thing the neocons have no sense of history, or they'd worry about this: in the decades to come, fewer and fewer people will be able to hear about the Iraq war without snickering and shaking their heads. [LewRockwell.com]

MacPlay ships Europa Universalis II. United Developers subsidiary MacPlay has announced that it's now shipping Europa Universalis II throughout North America. Europa Universalis II is a strategy game based in the years 1419-1820. Beginning with the Hundred Years War and ending with the fall of Napoleon, this game provides a battlefield of more than 180 nations -- with Europe, China, Africa and the Americas at your control. You choose your form of government, send privateers to explore the world and make contact with other nations, raise armies, select a state religion, deal with disease, famine and other disasters, negotiate trade deals, and more. [MacCentral]

I have the PC version of this game, and it's quite good. If the Mac version really is a Mac version (and not an OS X version), I'll probably buy a copy just to encourage more ports of PC strategy games.

Name That Dude.

Quick: Which one is Ari Fleischer, and which one is Baghdad Bob?

[Hit & Run]

Apparently I'm not the only one to see the obvious choice to replace Ari Fleischer.

Washington State Restricts Anti-Cop Videogames [Slashdot]

Presumably the Washington state legislature never even considered that such a law is illegal, as it violates the First Amendment.

I figured out the cause of the file saving problem I was having with "Tinderbox"--it turns out that Tinderbox doesn't like it when the "Views" font in the Appearance control panel is set to a Japanese font such as Osaka. I do have a number of files with Japanese names, but since I don't work with them very often I can just change the font to Geneva for the time being. Hopefully a fix will be forthcoming.
