Tokyo Adopts Linux for Intranets "We chose Linux due to our belief that it can reduce costs substantially for creating an intranet system. ....use of Samba has contributed to a cost reduction for the city without a client-side license fee for the use of Windows servers." indeed. check out Samba for your intranet if you haven't tried it. It's a sweet way to maintain your department's files on a Unix or Linux box, and they just look like other harddrives as far as your user is concerned. Drag and drop as normal, and you never even know you've saved it to a Unix disk.
