She's on the TV screen! Noticed something very intersting at the Westin Santa Clara at the O'Reilly Emerging Technology conference tonight, the hotel's concierge is on TV! I noticed some folks speaking to this woman on a plazma TV behind the concierge desk. I thought she was perhaps upstairs.. but she was 80 miles away at home, doing live concierge service. Her name is Anna Morris. Here's an article on her service. She built the service herself, and is looking to expand the service to other hotels.

John Doerr rides his Segway on the stage at Stanford engineering school today. Check out the media player file to the MS&E thought leaders seminar. He says it can go 15 miles on 9 cents of electricity. also proclaimed "this innovation is beyond web sites, we're back to inventing things". And as he's always done at this talk in the past, he gets the audience to design the talk. One person asked.. "what's the future of Sun?..oohh.. I met John back in 2000 on a trip back to the US from Japan. His talk helped me get fired up about moving back to the Silicon Valley. I had already decided by the time I met him, but his passion for building things really got to me. KPMG's latest investment is in a company called Kokiak, that makes 20k piece of software that lets any mobile phone become a walki-talki like the Nextel phones have. I couldn't find Kokiak on the web.
