Bike and a burger
Ok.. time to get some exercise. It looks like a perfect day.  Calls for a well paced bike ride to Portola Valley, way out beyond rt 280, then the reward on the way back, a burger at Rosotti's Alpine Inn.  If you haven't been, try it, you can even park your horse outside.  Update: oishkatta!

It's a small valley
I ran into Robert Scoble yesterday at Premier Pizza in San Jose.  Interesting coincidence, as I was just chatting with my coworkers on the drive there about Robert, Microsoft, blogging, and RSS possibilities, no kidding.  One of my coworkers (engineer) is an ex-Microsoft employee, and now she's probably the best Java programmer I know.  Robert was with Gary Cornell and Daniel Appleman of APress.  They both now have business cards for JapanInYourPalm.com.  Cool!.   btw .. we had the Pesto Garlic Chicken pizza.  Amazing stuff.  Very light, very fresh, full of flavor, and great crust.  None of that bloated feeling afterwards you often have when eating some of the other pizzas.

Web Search Engines: Algorithms and User Interfaces
I haven't had a chance to watch this yet, but yesterday, Bay-Wei Chang and Krishna Bharat of Google gave a talk on the subject at Stanford Prof. Winograd's HCI class.  Prof. Winograd is an advisor at Google.

Passionate about technology..
Joshua Allen
writes about hiring at Microsoft:
"We search for people who are really passionate about technology and the software ecosystem; the kind of people who would be working on the stuff one way or another even if they didn't have the job."  - Sounds like the same kind of folks we like to hire here in the Silicon Valley, it's certainly how I feel about technology, and something I look for in engineers we hire.  It's the reason I moved here.  There's probably no place on earth with a similar amount of passion and resources to help those of us who've chosen to create technology that makes the world a better place.
