"The way people shop has changed,'` he said. "Instead of browsing, people are using search and typing what they want into a search box." .. a quote from Yahoo in the NY Times this morning

hmm.. have they really? Could be just me, but if I'm shopping online, I would tend to be most comfortable visiting the seller's web page directly.  Knowing how web backend architectures can change all the time, who knows if yahoo or google have the latest thing indexed.  And why would I want these search engines to learn about my buying patters, they already probably know my regular search patterns more than is necessary.
