Space Weather News for Oct. 30, 2002

October 2002 has been a good month for auroras--some of them remarkably spooky. Today's issue of spaceweather.com features recent pictures of Northern Lights that look like ghosts, ghouls and witches. Earth is now exiting a solar wind stream that has triggered auroras off and on since Oct 23rd. There is a slim chance that trick-or-treaters in northern US states and Canada might see some ghostly auroras of their own on Oct. 31st. So keep an eye on the sky ... and happy Halloween!
