    | Jim Beam...cited over bathroom breaks
Union says 45 workers disciplined, but company defends restrictions

The Jim Beam bourbon-making plant in Bullitt County is disputing a Kentucky Labor Cabinet citation involving toilet breaks for the plant's bottlingline workers.
Under a policy implemented in October, line workers at the Jim Beam Brands Co. plant may use the restroom only during lunch and two other scheduled daily breaks, one before lunch and one after. They also are allowed one unscheduled toilet break per day, and can be disciplined for taking more, starting with a warning and escalating to dismissal after six incidents. [Louisville Courier-Journal]
I don't know if I should laugh or cry about this story. Jim Beam needs to think about its priorities. It's a great PR move...NOT!...mj2:44:15 PM

    | Apple's next move?

What will the next consumer device be? Some have talked about a tie in to SONY and remote control of stereo equipment (and an iTunes/iMovie/iDVD connection). Some have talked about an iCamera for use with iPhoto. Others talk about a PDA, while others talk about a link to Smart Phones. I think with the release of iSync that the "iFone" is the logical choice. We know that Silicon Valley is one of the hotbeds of cell phone use. They were part of the California lifestyle before any of us thought about it. The only question is what kind of Smart Phone to use? The arrival of new phones and technology is heralding the advance of the "Mobile Society".
Want more? Well head on over to Danger.com and look at the HipTop Communicator. Take the time to look at the Flash demo of the device. With an ear-bud this could be the perfect combo device. It even has an Apple design ethic to it.
So why Apple? We know that Steve Jobs tried to by Palm at one point. He later stated that the PDA market was not worth the time. Handspring came to the same conclusion and has moved on to doing Smart Phones, with PDAs as an afterthought. Still wonder what the connection to Apple is? Take the time to look at the management list. The first three people listed all worked for Apple. Then look at the Board of Directors and note the last name on the list. WOZ!...mj11:39:40 AM
