Newsmonster is hiring!
Newsmonster is hiring!. Newsmonster -- a wicked-cool, Mozilla-based RSS reader -- is funded and looking to hire an engineer. The rarity value of this, a cool tech gig in San Francisco in 2003, is really astonishing.
We're looking for someone with experience in
# JavaScript, Java, C, C++ (min 5 years)
# XML including SAX, DOM, XPATH, XSLT, XUL, RSS, and RDF
# Understanding of "modern" RPC technologies (REST/SOAP/XMLRPC) Link [Boing Boing Blog]

Topic Exchange client
Topic Exchange client.
Phil Pearson conitnues to rock the house. I just wonder where the MP3s are?
Topic Exchange client development. I'm writing a posting client for the Topic Exchange. Something to make it easier for people to ping it, and to make it easier to push people towards the topic channels so they can see related information. Send me an e-mail if you want to beta test (especially if you think you know how to get me to make a good UI -- right now it sucks!).
Tech details: it's written in Python and uses [[wxPython]] for display. That means it should work on Windows (that's what I'm developing it on), Linux and (maybe) Mac OS.
Development is going on over here. Go take a look. Comment [Second p0st] [Marc's Voice]

Expanding the role of RSS into data-oriented applications
For well over 5 years, I've been excited about the role of syndication in evolving how the Internet is used and applied, and am thrilled with the progress that's been made with RSS as a common standard for content syndication...[ Jeremy Allaire's Radio]

2005: The Year of Cable VOIP
2005: The Year of Cable VOIP. The News.com article spins Comcast's statement that it will deploy voice over IP service in 2004 as a "go slow" decision. With 2004 just 3 months away, I see the glass as half-full. The Comcast comments are further evidence that cable operators will launch serious VOIP marketing efforts in 2005, after testing it next year. At that point, the telephone industry of we know it will cease to exist. [Werblog]
