New words this morning for the BlogAudSphere
Some new words for the BlogAudSphere this morning, all derived and based around the audio format Ogg Vorbis:
- BlogOggSphere
- OggBlogger
- OggBlogging
- OggBlogs
Ogg Vorbis is a completely open, patent-free, professional audio encoding and streaming technology with all the benefits of Open Source.
Learn more about Ogg Vorbis by reading the FAQ -- Get set up to listen to Ogg.
LiveJournal is presently the only commercial blogging service I know about out that supports Ogg Vorbis phone posts.
...and what's the reason LiveJournal gives for supporting Ogg Vorbis and not MP3?
Ogg Vorbis is an audio compression format, comparable to other formats like mp3, aac, wma, and ra. Ogg is different from others however, because it is an open specification, is free to use by any person or business, and is not encumbered by any patent.
We offer your phone posts as .ogg files because it doesn't cost us extra to do so. Also, Ogg Vorbis is an open source project, an ideal we strongly believe in.
