The PODCast browser, where do we go from here?

OK, I am starting to see some interest around my new idea/program the "PODCast browser".

In the last couple of days I have started to write here about my latest idea in Audioblogging called the "PODCast browser".  I have even posted podcasts that are based around me demostrating the power of the idea for the end user.

I would like to make it clear right up front that I am not a company promoting a commercial new product.  Which means I do not sell the product.  I believe it is much to early for any commercial product in this space for many reasons including we still have a lot of research ahead and work to complete that only works in a research open non-product mode.

I am presently still simply promoting myself, my ideas as a weblogger with a audioblogging/podcast idea looking to create a conversation around their new idea.

My intent is to try to use my space here to get this idea, a different way to discover podcast/audioblogs out in the user space for users to explore with me.  This would mean that users would have the ability to use my program if they agree to participate in the conversation (on my blog and through email, etc.) about improving it.

Ok, if you read my blog in the past you know I have introduced many of my ideas into this space before.  Many before it was cool to audioblog/podcast.  The difference this time, the next level, is that I want to demostrate my new ideas directly to the users through a downloadable/client installed program.  An application that users can use for free and would be used to support a conversation around an emerging technology space and new idea.

Now the problem that I fear is that by distributing an application through a open download I run the risk that users see me simply as a company with a product which at the moment I am not.  I understand that this a natural reaction that users including myself have when they download programs.

By not being a company I risk the potential of not be taken seriously by others that I need to help promote the message.

As you can see running this middle road with a program introduces a hosts of new interesting end user communication problems. So what I'm thinking is that I need to make sure the user understands my intentions and expectations right up front, before they download the "PODcast browser" but I also must be sensitive and balance that with not making it so hard to get to the goods.

Any ideas/feedback in this area would be appreciated!
