Happy B-Day to Dave Winer Dave to me is first a humanitarian even before being a great programmer. Dave's site Scripting.com is often more about the issues of justice, equity and access. He has the balls to challenge the "Big Boys", about interoperability, price value and the quality of their products.
Dave and company back up the talk with a $40 piece of software that is the best value on the market. It is a piece of software that helps us consumers become authors and publishers in our own right. Not only that, Radio can bring together authors to form a community around meaningful issues. That is a gift that is without price! This is more important than Gutenberg's invention.

A few notes in outline form about various blogging tools that I am more or less familiar with, as they relate to issues of centralization.

LSC Election Well I was elected by my peers for another two year term on the Whittier School Local School Council. Since there were three teachers running for the two educator spots on the council, one had to lose. Pat Sirchio lost in this election. She did an excellent job during the two years she sat on the local school council. She is a good thinker who brings a lot of common sense to the discussions. Good at keeping the meeting going and keeping us focused. A very big thanks to Pat Sirchio! We welcome our Kindergarten teacher Martha Zepeda to the local school council. I know she will do a good job. She is also a woman with a lot of common sense and drive. "Break a leg"

Userland: A Class Act! One can respect Userland for owning up and sharing with its subscribers, the outage problem. I find admirable that they would ask the community on how to solve the Samba sharing problem. Not only does the company respect its audience but respects the knowledge of its members. I hope Microsoft and others are watching this.

Here we go. Jack Welch says that companies that spend money on IT to gain a competitive edge today will kick competitors in the ass long term. Nice. I would suggest K-Logs as a route to competitive advantage. Don't freeze like a deer in the headlights. [John Robb's Radio Weblog]

I will be concentrating on the K-log concept for our DTeam Blogging sub-group. I just posted a question on the K-Log Yahoo Group regarding the essential questions one asks before starting one. Just as a teacher in a classroom shares his/her thinking process, I too, want to find out the thinking process that goes into starting a K-log from folks who have pioneered the path.
