From the Better-Points-The-Second-Time-Around Dept: Carbon vs. Cocoa Revisited. [inessential.com] Pierre Igot (the author) wrote some less-then-accurate information in his first article -- but nails it right on the head in this one. The point: There are noticeable differences between Carbon and Cocoa apps - it's getting better, but some inconsistency remains - like the way each type of application handles drag-and-drop, for example. I'm also fairly sure that the built-in OS X spell-checker is only available to Cocoa apps. It would be really nice if the Carbon programmers could get access to that system-wide, unified spellchecker. |
