A Bit Of A DotMac Rant
Previously I said good things about .Mac

Now I'm going to rant for a minute.

Last year I must have signed up for the "please renew my .mac account automatically" option. It sounds like something I would have done.

Yesterday, something arrived in my email box. An email from Apple.

You have been renewed for another year of .Mac service
.

Now, I've been pleased with the service, I like all stuff you get (storing backups on their servers, iSync, email/webmail, the freebies, etc). I'd recommend it if someone came to me looking to solve the problems .Mac solves. I was going to renew my own account, when the subscription lapsed.

But I would have really appreciated an email 2 or 3 (or 4) weeks ago saying Your subscription to .Mac will expire, but we'll renew you automatically in N weeks. Even if I had checked the option for automatic renewal.

I guess I got what I asked for, but I really didn't expect to be paying Apple $100 this week.
