As I got off the M-15 Bus at Canal Street there was a police barracade at the corner of Pike and East Broadway. Like a moth attracted to a flame I made my way there to see. Not see what I could do, but just see. The crowd was gathered on the four corners of Pike, East Broadway and Henry Street. I figured that there was at least one death as there was a SUV for the City Medical Examiners office and one from the Crime Scene Unit. Also in attendence were a few patrol cars and eventually a ambulance.

What made it compeling was the lack of intensity by the participants. There was coffee all around, no dramatic poses by the crime scene investigators, only two not the required small army in the TV show. This was a real crime scene with bodies, police and detectives and no theatrics. I have always wondered what the real detectives, crime scene people, emts, fire fighters and others really thought about the fictions of their professions portrayed on TV and in the movies.

On another note, I hope that the NY dinner comes off on Saturday at Junior's.
