UNIX paths in Radio? I would like a UNIX (or POSIX?) path to the Radio "www" directory. Nothing at Calling the shell (which defaults to "/" as the working directory) or sys.unixShellCommand really addresses this. I also can't seem to find anything which exposes the FSRef conversion routines.

Why do I need this?

I want to use some external scripting tools in tools which I export for others. That means the path needs to be variable. It needs to be based on where my tool is installed. And among other things, that means I need to deal with high ascii characters in the path. Without internal support I am going to have to roll my own. Yuck.

Go to hell RIAA
ZDNet News has an article today titled RIAA wants tax dollars to combat piracy.
In a congressional hearing Tuesday before a subcommittee of the House Appropriations Committee, the RIAA requested additional funds for federal anti-piracy law enforcement efforts and is pushing for a renewed agenda on protecting intellectual property. The RIAA, which did not request a specific amount, said the additional funds are needed for investigations and cases.
OK you bastards, enough is enough.

I stopped buying CDs when you nitwits decided Napster was illegal, mostly because of a law that RIAA helped create and I see as illegal (it makes parts of my job illegal, as I often stoop to reverse engineering), but I have resisted the urge to grab things online and keep them (steal). Not any more.

I recently bought the DVD O Brother, Where Art Thou?. More recently, I borrowed the sound track from a friend and ripped it. I had been feeling a bit guilty about this, even though I have already bought the soundtrack, albeit in another format. Now, you want my money to create a federal agency to help find people who do things which they ought to (or used to) have the right to do? Screw you! [Doc Searls]

Application servers An interesting thread on The ServerSide compares JOnAS (Java Open Application Server) to JBoss. A bit filled with hype but I wasn't previously aware of the ObjectWeb Consortium or JOnAS.

I also found the TechMetrix Research Application Server Directory and this article about the application server market.
