In
Monday's list (from the wee hours of "Sunday night")
I listed a few meetings; it didn't include the
SVJUG meeting that
I mentioned on Thursday (wee hours of "Wednesday").
So I did make it to all of them, plus a bonus one. Whee.
This past night's SVCS
general meeting was a talk/demo about setting up a home network.
Naturally, the speaker just assumed Windows machines,
didn't even mention Linux or Mac as far as I know (I cut out early).
I couldn't help thinking of the blank stares of the crowd
in the 1984 Macintosh commercial.
(He did mention Unix in general, though. Once.)

Open Standards Update. Programming language standards act as contract between the programmer and the compiler & library vendor. If you write code, either professionally, or as a hobby, you probably want it to conform to an open standard. Read on for a selection of small (mostly good) news items concerning various open programming standards.
