Cassette adapter, iCarPlay, iTrip Compared. On the drive home last night I performed informal comparisons of the sound quality resulting from different configurations for playing my iPod through my car's stereo. While the cassette adapter is OK for speech, it produces an annoyingly tinny sound when playing music. So much so, that I've already stopped using it. The iCarPlay seems to produce a boomier sound while the iTrip comes across a bit more natural sounding. However, the iTrip generates much more static than the iCarPlay. I compared the two by setting iTrip to use the same frequency as iCarPlay - using a band that appeared open (only static from the radio) - and then switching back and forth.
One other thing I noticed about the iTrip. When the iPod is not playing, but iTrip is broadcasting a signal, it generates a distinct high-pitched whine. This whine even shows up in the background when the iPod is playing. 9:48:13 AM |
