CBDTPA thoughts There are a lot here. I'm working on something that I'll post as soon as I can. In the mean time, consider Hilary Rosen's comments in support of the act:
"The introduction of the 'Consumer Broadband Act' sends an unmistakable signal about the importance of protecting digital music and other content from piracy. Without stringent protections, online piracy will continue to proliferate and spin further out of control.
Let's talk about sending signals. First and foremost, it seems like the general direction should be opposite: lawmakers respond to signals received from the electorate. They work for us; we don't work for them. There is an arrogance of power at work here. Secondly, the only clear signal I interpret is that consumers want to get music and movies fast, cheap and easy, and wish for the distributors, clinging to a doomed, antiquated hierarchical business structure, to get the hell out of the way. Something's going to give, and I'll be damned if it's the Internet.
