davidkin hollywood

Well, the eve of the Oscars is here, and Hollywood is locked up tight. The Hollywood Blvd. strip between Wilcox and La Brea, and nearly all of the side streets are closed off, police are swarming like black and white ants around the Kodak Theatre, waiting for the royalty to arrive. The peasants are already camped out hoping to catch a glimpse of their favorite two-dimensional personality. It's a fairly typical Sunday afternoon. Anne Litt's doing her good thing, the sun is shining, a cool breeze is pushing the remnants of spotty showers through the basin. Still, it's more tense around here than I can ever recall. Moreso than the System of a Down "riot" a few months ago. So many people, so many important people, so many cameras, so much attention.
