Denver November 2004 Election
State Treasurer Mike Coffman is trying to get the state legislature to acknowledge that the Gallagher Amendment, Tabor Amendment, and Amendment 23 are combining to force unreasonable decisions on state and local government across the state, according to the Rocky Mountain News [December 11, 2003, "Calming a fiscal storm"]. This is relevant to next November's election in that one organization "The Bell Policy Center, a Denver think tank, already is trying to get on next year's ballot with a proposal to totally revamp TABOR." Here's the coverage from the Denver Post [December 11, 2003, "Treasurer targets fiscal amendments"].

2004 Presidential Election
Update 8:48PM The first post-Gore endorsement poll is out for the Iowa caucuses. Thanks to the Daily Kos for the link.
Here's a story from about the reaction of Iowa political leaders to Al Gore's endorsement of Howard Dean from the AP via the Rocky Mountain News [December 11, 2003, "Iowa Leaders Divided on Gore Endorsement"]. From the article, "Another question is how many Iowans were put off by the secrecy behind the Gore-Dean alliance and Gore's treatment of Joe Lieberman. The Connecticut senator had withheld a decision to run until Gore declined to challenge President Bush - and then didn't rate a phone call before the announcement broke Monday. Any significant help from Gore in Iowa may come only if he pulls on his boots and goes town to town on behalf of Dean. The former vice president remains popular in the state he narrowly won in the general election against Bush."
Here's a link to a recent The Morning Call/Muhlenberg College Institute poll of Pennsylvania voters on the race for the Democratic Presidential nomination.
