Groklaw - Linus Torvalds answers the latest SCO letter

SCO wrote a letter to some unnamed Linux users today with a list of files that are alleged to violate their copyright. Linus Torvalds responds in e-mail to Groklaw. Mr. Torvalds claims, "In short: for the files where I personally checked the history, I can definitely say that those files are trivially written by me personally, with no copying from any UNIX code _ever_." Well I guess that seals the deal. How many other programmers can the defense call that can say, "those files are trivally written by me personally?" Many more. Earlier in the day the kids at Groklaw said their sources who had looked at the list of files were laughing too hard to post a response.

2004 Presidential Election

NHPrimary.com "Poll shows Bush leads Democratic field in N.H."

A recent Harris nationwide poll shows Howard Dean with 21%. Joe Lieberman is in second place with 10%. National polls are of dubious value since the nomination comes from the collecting of delegates to the national convention.

A recent Newsweek poll shows Howard Dean leading second place Wesley Clark 26 to 15 with Lieberman following.

Here's a recent American Research Group poll for South Carolina. Dean is losing to Undecided with Sharpton third.

The Washington Post has Dean well in front.

Y'all can enlist in the Clark Tech Corps and help build Open Source campaign software. Now this is something we've never seen before. I'm still not convinced that it'll get out the vote but it's still very cool. If I were running for office this year I would hire a staffer good enough to join an Open Source campaign software effort. That way you'd have the software and a staff for administration. All campaigns need software that covers certain areas such as weblogs and online donations.
