2004 Presidential Election
John Kerry has the Democratic nomination wrapped up. What a wild ride over the last couple of months. Well, really since early last year. Now on to the election in November. Taegan Goddard, and others, predict a very close election.
The big news for me is that Howard Dean finally won a primary, Vermont.
Here's the coverage of Super Tuesday from the AP via the Rocky Mountain News. From the article, "Altogether, Kerry won in California, Rhode Island, Ohio, New York, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maryland and Georgia. For the opening of his general election campaign Wednesday, Kerry picked Florida, site of the historic 2000 recount election that gave Bush the presidency."
A little Colorado trivia from the Rocky Mountain News: No native Coloradan has ever been elected president, or even won a major party nomination; But that's about to change - presuming there are no surprises between now and the Democratic convention; John F. Kerry was born Dec. 11, 1943, at what was then called Fitzsimons Army Hospital in Aurora. His father, in the Army Air Corps, was recovering from tuberculosis there; Former Sen. Gary Hart, Colorado's best known presidential candidate, never made it to the nomination and is a Kansas native. Former Rep. Pat Schroeder, who flirted with a run, was born in Oregon; No, Gov. Bill Owens has no chance of becoming the first native Coloradan to get the Republican presidential nomination, should he run in 2008. He was born in Fort Worth, Texas.
