2004 Presidential Election
Here's an article about Dennis Kucinich's visit to Colorado last week. He sat down with the Denver Post editorial staff for a little conversation about Iraq and other subjects [April 10, 2004, "Kucinich rails against Bush's Iraq policies"]. From the article, "'I'm staying in to bring a clear set of principles to the Democratic Party. It has no clear-cut positions on a number of issues. I'm trying to give cachet to issues like peace and health care,' he said. 'The Democrats lost the election in 2000 not from their ideas but from their lack of ideas. If we don't offer an alternative, if this country is still stuck in Iraq in November, it will cause a lot of voters to wonder about the Democrats.' 'We must come up with alternatives - like an exit strategy out of Iraq,' said Kucinich, who added that he believes, or worries, that the military draft will be reinstated if the country is still at war next year." A potential military draft is an issue for the 'Ol Coyote since my three children are of prime draft age.
