Dick Morris (via Political Wire): "Many political observers are wondering why the former First Lady chose to ratchet up her rhetoric and go after the House leadership and call it a plantation. The reason is simple. She hears the footsteps of Condoleezza Rice. It is no coincidence that on Sunday Laura Bush said Rice would make a good president and that she hopes the Secretary of State runs for president and on Monday, Martin Luther King day, Hillary strengthens her identification with black America. She is worried sick about Rice and needs to work overtime to hold the African American vote in line if Rice does run, hence her comment.
"In my book, Condi vs Hillary, my wife and I talk about the prospects for such a race. There is no way that Laura Bush would have mentioned Rice for President without at least clearing it with the president. My own guess is that he put her up to it. With Jeb out of the running, Condi is the closest thing to family he has in the race."
