Aurora is trying to gauge the interest of other water utilities in building the facitilities necessary to reclaim water from downstream in the South Platte River, according to the Rocky Mountain News [April 19, 2004, "Aurora tests the waters"]. From the article, "Aurora is considering the project, which would take water the city has already used from the lower South Platte and pump it back into Aurora Reservoir through a series of gravel pits and pipelines. The project could cost between $250 million and $650 million. The city recently hired the consulting engineering firm MWH of Broomfield to see if the project is feasible. Last December, officials filed a request with the State Water Court to store and pump back the water."
