November 2003 Election

Attorney General Ken Salazar is against Referendum A according to the Denver Post [August 8, 2003, "Salazar says Referendum A will create 'water war"]. From the article, "Politicians including U.S. Reps. Scott McInnis, R-Colo., and Mark Udall, D-Colo., are opposing the measure, along with many Western Slope state legislators. Gov. Bill Owens has vowed to campaign for the issue, and U.S. Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell, R-Colo., is the most prominent official hailing from the Western Slope to support it. The referendum would allow local groups to use the bonding authority to pay for water projects whose proceeds will be paid off by profits from the projects." Here's another story from the Post [August 8, 2003, "Bonding measure drawing opposition"] on the subject and one from the Rocky Mountain News [August 8, 2003, "$2 billion 'blank check' booed"].
