Denver November 2004 Election
Peter Coors is trying to paint Ken Salazar as a tax and spend liberal, according to the Rocky Mountain News [September 16, 2004, "Senate battle moves to taxes"]. From the article, "Bush's tax revisions, which would expire in 2011, amounted to $1.7 trillion by cutting income taxes and eliminating the marriage penalty and estate taxes. A report last month by the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said those cuts disproportionately benefited the rich. Salazar favors retaining most of the tax cuts, except those for people earning more than $200,000 a year. He also would impose estate, or death, taxes on couples inheriting more than $10 million or individuals getting more than $5 million. Coors says that amounts to a tax hike."
