When I look for art blogs, I find art blogs...

NQPaOFU is an arty French weblog that has been around for a while. I don't know if the site is written in English by a native French speaker, or mechanically translated, but it's totally confusing and really makes me feel like I'm in France.

Phil Austin (the Firesign Theater blogging guy) has discovered that his great-uncle was a California school impressionist active in the south coast art movement of the first half of the last century when Laguna became the art mecca.

Phil Ackley took a picture that effectivly turns space inside-out and near becomes far. His image reminds me of installationist Robert Irwin whose work is pictured at right.

There is a direct line from Cal-school to Irwin, look at the quality of the light in both of the above images. While impressionism demands that reality be represented, modern California art wants to be part of the surrounding reality.
