Why am I hearing Walk away René?

I'd like a little analysis here, but Niek Hockx in the Netherlands is my only connection to European politics these days and he's all caught up in an adolescent hormone storm. 
He points, however, to an article by Volker Weber (auf Deutsch) clarifying Germany's position on the impending war between the United States and Iraq.
So ownership of some beer joints and the supply of French bread after Mardi Gras lead to toll autobahns and disentary for the American troops in Iraq. Schröder becomes involved with and replaced by Germany's Katie Couric who then cedes German control to last millenium's isolationist power broker.
Am I getting this right?
In a completely unrelated article George Tenet presents the latest CIA euphamism: "radiological dispersion device". Cute.
