Money (well, Blogshare money anyway) where my mouth is...
Central coast Mondavi Cabernet is about as quintessential as a California wine can be. This light colored cab-lite is easy on the palate. Mondavi calls it a "fruit-forward" style - it tastes slightly sweet, and not too complex, with not much bouquet, nor mouth-weight. I would not select this wine to compliment the a red meat fare usually associated with cabernet sauvignon, but as an afternoon wine, probably so. At seven bucks a bottle, this grocery store wine represents adequate value, but I really bought it to check it's spectrum:
The previous three wines are in the background for comparison. I am surprised by the long foot and easy slope similar to the Chianti, but the light color foretold the high shoulder.
