Oh that fluid.

Only your opaque filter knows for sure.

As you may recall, I've played with digital infrared photography using a CP950 camera and a Wratten 89B filter. I am awaiting delivery of such a filter large enough to get around my new lenses, meanwhile, I've been playing Photoshop's Channel Mixer, Diffuse Glow, Unsharp Mask and Fade commands to simulate, or fake, the effects of infrared recording, as in the above picture.

The effect is similar to real infrared, but looks somehow harsher. It doesn't feel like looking into an impossible world as the CP950-89B combination did. If the 89B doesn't get here soon, I'll look at other filters, such as the Hoya 72 that artist Melanie Kipp uses.
