"You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull
his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand
this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they
receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat."
- Albert Einstein, explaining radio
Thank you, There is no cat.

Dan Bricklin: Small Players Matter (via Dave). This piece ties in with points made elsewhere about the Zipf distribution. Even though the big sites get many more hits individually than the small sites (such as blogs) do, there are so many small sites and they get so many hits in aggregate that they remain, arguably, the lifeblood of the Web. MBA types have long assumed that the big players will make the small sites irrelevant. So far it doesn't seem to be going that way. And that's to all of our benefit.

Another note for OS X users. OmniGroup really appears to be on the ball. They were developing for NeXT many eons ago. OmniOutliner, which I have been using extensively over the last couple of days is an improved version of Dave's MORE (at least as I used MORE) with the sole exception that it lacks the clone feature. If you know what I'm talking about, email me and we can reminisce, and maybe start a club at the old-age home.
