3 See College Suit as a Way to Show They Belonged. The three white plaintiffs challenging the University of Michigan's admissions policies are ultimately pursuing a more personal goal. By Jacques Steinberg. All three plaintiffs acknowledge that they had been relatively confident they would be admitted to Michigan and had done little to line up comparable backup choices. [New York Times: NYT HomePage]
I've been sort of following this case, The University of Michigan being my Alma Mater and all. I thought this article was interesting, but I was outrage when I encountered the quoted text. All three students thought they were entitled to be admitted to The University of Michigan. One was an older woman, with a neat plan. But not the typical student. Why was she surprised not to be accepted? The other two, by their own admission, hadn't done a proper job of applying for schools. Not exactly U of M quality, not doing the job. I bet the application of all three showed the carelessness of those that think they are owed something. I wish they did an article with some of the minority students that got in, thanks to the policies in place...

NY Times: "Sun's quandary is that its business appears to be alarmingly dependent on high-cost, proprietary hardware at a time when technology trends and customers seem to be headed in the other direction -- toward inexpensive, PC-based hardware that is more like an industrial commodity." Apple is Going Out of Business ... Again [Slashdot]
This article is so bad... The guy had an old Mac he didn't like, got a new iBook, wasn't intelligent enough to make some third party things work, things like Palm Desktop that millions of Mac owners use without problem. Hence, Apple is going out of business. Yeah, and you will get a brain real soon now.
