Credit Card Cos. Watch Own Backs. MasterCard, Visa, American Express and the banks that issue credit cards don't do enough to protect merchants and consumers from the perils of fraud, reports analyst firm Gartner. By Michelle Delio. [Wired News]
In my experience this is true. Credit cards do not care about fraud because a) they don't pay for it (insurance or vendors pay for it) and b) They are a monopoly without the possibility of competition... The sad thing is that it would be so easy for them to stop fraud... while for vendors is a hard problem to solve (though still solvable, following a strategy I designed Patilla.com had less than 1 fraud case per 10000 fulfilld orders).

Today's song King Crimson's 21st Century Schizoid Man, played 30 years ago for the Earthbound concert... Weird how it applies today...

The End of Democracy
The end of democracy for Venezuela occured a few years ago. What we are witnessing now is the end of any pretension of democracy. Not only we have people tortured, disappeared and killed, not only we have opposition leaders thrown in jail and persecuted on phony charges such as rebellion, but now the government will ask all international presence to leave. They don't want foreign intervention in Venezuela. Why? It prevents them from blowing up embassies and killing opponents. Now is the real test of the international community. Will they allowed my country to become another North Korea? Do we have to wait until Chávez attempts to export his revolution to get the OAS and UN to act? This is the first chapter of a different history for this hemisphere...
