'Quiet' Mach 6 wind tunnel helps shape future aircraft. Engineers have developed a wind tunnel that is the only one of its kind in the world capable of running quietly at "hypersonic" speeds, helping researchers to design advanced aircraft and missiles. No other wind tunnel runs quietly while conducting experiments in airstreams traveling at Mach 6 – six times the speed of sound, said Steven Schneider, an aerospace engineer and professor in Purdue's School of Aeronautics and Astronautics. Google Video Store Announced. [Slashdot] this has interesting implications for educational institutions both as providers of video and consumers of video clips with the potential for course packs which have time sensitive pricing (so that the expensive edge of as it happens costs more than delayed replays). This will put a premium on services that can search video and audio archives for "just the right clip" to make a persuasive point. -- Bl

Google Unveils The Google Pack. [Slashdot] this is the beginning installment of google desktop with Firefox as the browser of choice. Product placement in future packs will be worth $$$. The mobile version will be interesting to see what services/apps are delivered through firefox. -- BL
