ZDNet, 8/18/03: CenterBeam to offer 'terminate anytime' outsourcing terms

By David Berlind, Tech Update

Now, citing a more utility-like business model, medium enterprise-targeted IT consultancy CenterBeam has jumped on the no-risk bandwagon with monthly--instead of the typical yearly (or longer)--contractual terms.

CenterBeam defines the mid-size enterprise as having between 100 and 2,500 employees. According to CenterBeam CEO and president Kevin Francis, "This is a radically different way of billing. Airgo's technology is just one example, industry executives said, of the continued emergence of new companies, undercutting recent fears that wireless technology innovation is slowing and is in danger of being dominated by a few large established concerns.

After a number of comments to my previous post, some a bit acid-etched, questioning why I was using Exchange at all instead of a Lotus/IBM product for calendaring, I checked and realized I had never posted an explanation about my product choice, though it's been a staple of my informal talks and speeches for a long time.
