Perspective

For whatever reason, after almost 20 years in the workforce, it finally has sunk in that there are companies and people who treat their employees much like a service. I've watched some individuals who are high rnaking enough to have wide ranging budgetary responsibilities chew down the salary of candidates interviewing for programming positions much the same way as they would try to sqeeze every last penny out of some service provider. Unfortunately when you work in this manner you'll end up losing a lot of people. With the recent uptick in salaries in our region we lost 30% of our team in the past 4 months. What goes around comes around...If you add to that the cost of training a replacement and lost productivity due to a shortage in manpower you'll find that its much better to pay people appropriately rigth from the start.

American Idol

My wife and daughter love to watch it. What I don't understand is the situation this year in which the best singers were consistently ranked at the bottom of the list and last week the very best singer in show - LaToya London - was voted off. It brings 2 things to mind. First - boy oh boy America is still a racist country. Secondly, what the heck do you do if your the Pres of 19 Entertainment, the company that makes Idol. Your best talent was just booted off and everybody knows it. Whew what a mess!
