EJB not always necessary!. EJB not always necessary is a great response to our (Patrick and my) article Is EJB Always Necessary? - thanks to Gordon for letting me put this online, I think it contains valuable insights and experiences for all J2EE developers. [rebelutionary]
My company recently hired some consultants to develop a project plan for some new software, and part of their plan was for heavy use of EJBs. Most of their reasons seemed to be pulled directly from Sun marketing literature instead of from any actual experience. The consultants thought that they would also be getting a contract to do some development, and they seemed to be looking for expensive technologies to justify the big amounts they wanted to charge. Fortunately, we dumped those consultants and have kept EJBs out of our project so far.
